Why Positive Reinforcement?

At Pawsitopia we we promise to use only force-free and positive reinforcement training techniques. Positive Reinforcement is science-based and uses humane and ethical methods to train your pet. We utilize treats, praise and play to help your dog build positive associations with their environments while learning more desired behaviors. In the Positive Reinforcement world, we refrain from using outdated methods that are not based on today's science and can cause pain, stress or force with your pet.

What is your stance on Prong, choke, and e-collars?

Pawsitopia does not use, nor condone the use of prong, choke or shock collars. Training with positive reinforcement utilizes food, praise and play to help animals learn more desired behaviors. For walking, we use anti-pull harnesses and in some cases, gentle leader head halters for heavy pullers. Before working with a gentle leader we will spend time with the dog helping them learn to enjoy wearing the new equipment. We do not use any equipment that uses pain or force to work with or train an animal, regardless of its behavior. We gently try to guide our clients towards more humane methods of training if prong or choke equipment is something they are currently using. Together we can create a safer, and more positive relationship with animals without the use of pain or force.

Do you offer pet sitting and/or boarding?

Pawsitopia provides cat owners with drop-in pet sitting services, so your kitties can luxuriate in their own homes with up to two visits per day. The visits include playtime, feeding, fresh water, litter box cleaning, plant watering, bring in mail, etc. We do not offer overnight pet sitting or boarding.

Can my dog join on an as-needed basis?

Pawsitopia asks clients to commit to at least one or more walks per week for the following reasons:

-We carefully curate our groups and find that giving them a routine helps prevent over arousal and over excitement.

-Your dog will love seeing their friends on a regular basis and will be happier hanging out with dogs they know and like. A consistent, stable group leads to more peaceful outings for everyone

-Having consistent groups makes it easy for us to encourage polite trail manners. You'll see the results on your daily walks, too!
